LA PAZ MEMORIAL REEF

La Paz, Baja California Sur

Your journey with Memorial Reefs International begins in La Paz where the ocean and desert meet to form a truly unique ecosystem on the Gulf of California. La Paz means Peace, and at Memorial Reefs International we want your Undersea Memorial Garden to be a place of peace and comfort. We want to rehabilitate our oceans and restore their balance. Imagine your Memorial Reef supporting marine life in the spectacular Sea of Cortez- one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. Home to hundreds of species of tropical fish, humpback whales, gray whales, whale sharks, sea lions, manta rays, and many more incredible aquatic creatures, the sea of Cortez is a major marine observation site.

La Paz features the malecón, a large pedestrian sidewalk that stretches over three miles along the waterfront, allowing you to soak up the spectacular sights that dot the sea of Cortez. It is the capital of Baja California Sur and home to nearly three hundred thousand residents. During the day you can walk from end to end and browse the shops and restaurants lining it. During the evening take a seat at one of the many benches lining the shore and watch the sunset or venture to a bar or restaurant providing a perfect view of the sunset on the horizon.

Nearby is the unblemished Isla Espíritu Santo, declared in 1995 as part of the Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Its beaches are considered some of the most pristine in the world. Departing from La Paz, The sea of Cortez contains 244 islands and islets. Cave paintings created over 7,500 years ago add to the rich history of the region and emphasize both the human impact on our planet and the longevity of our actions. You can choose a Memorial with the same longevity, that also has a positive influence on our seas.
